Affiliate Disclosure
Effective date: 15 October 2026
The short version
Calmspan is published by Bounty Gastro s.r.o. and carries no advertising. It is paid for by affiliate links to one game, Crossout. If you follow one of those links and create an account, the affiliate network that operates the link may pay us a commission. Nothing costs you more for having come through us, and no part of the course requires you to follow a link.
How the arrangement works, mechanically
An affiliate link is an ordinary link with a tracking address: the destination records which site sent you, and if you then do the thing the advertiser pays for, the network credits it to us.
For this offer, the action that earns a commission is a reader creating an account, confirming the email address attached to it, and logging in to the game. Nobody has to spend money for us to be paid, and we are not paid more if you do. Commissions are reported by the network and reconciled at the beginning of the following month, so we learn about activity in aggregate and well after the fact.
What the network sends us is a count and a payment, never anything that identifies a reader, as the Privacy Policy sets out.
Where the links appear
There are exactly two affiliate links in the course, and each is marked with a line of its own directly beneath it.
- On the home page, in the section explaining where Crossout appears in the course and why.
- In Step 2, where the step tells you to read the vendor's current platform and hardware requirements on the vendor's own site.
Both carry the label "Visit the Crossout website", open in a new tab, are marked sponsored and nofollow, and point straight at the destination address, which you can read in the status bar before you click. Nothing is hidden behind a redirect, a script or a shortened address.
Steps 1, 3, 4 and 5 contain no affiliate links at all.
What decides the content, and what does not
The commission does not decide what the course says, which products are named, or in what order the steps appear. Here is what you can check that against.
The course does not recommend installing anything. It does not score, rank or review games. Step 1 tells you how free-to-play games make money, including the parts that cost players most. Step 4 tells you to look up a classification and to keep chance-based purchases away from young people. Step 5 tells you how to stop and how to uninstall. None of that is written to increase sign-ups.
The restriction that rules the named game out for an entire group of readers — it is offered for desktop computers running Windows or Linux, with no Mac version in scope — appears in Step 1 and again at the top of Step 2, where it costs us the most. A page designed around commission would have buried it.
What does decide the content: the order in which decisions actually arise for a beginner; what the vendor states about its own offer, with gaps left as gaps; what Australian government bodies publish about classification, consumer law, privacy and online safety; and whether a step can be reduced to a checklist a reader can work through alone. The editorial method on our About page sets that out in full, including the review schedule.
Why this game rather than another: the course needed one real title to make Step 2 concrete, and this one has unusually narrow published platform requirements, which makes the checking exercise worth doing. A commercial relationship made it available to us as an example. Both of those things are true at once, and saying only the first would be the dishonest version.
What this does not mean
Being paid a commission does not make us a partner, reseller, agent or authorised source for anything. Calmspan is not operated by, affiliated with or endorsed by the publisher of any game named here. We cannot help with an account, a purchase, a refund or a ban, as the Contact page explains.
All brand names on Calmspan, Crossout among them, are the property of their owners. Except for the paid affiliate links described on our funding page, none of those owners is affiliated with Calmspan, and none has endorsed or sponsored it.
Reading the course without the links
If you would rather give us nothing, that is a perfectly ordinary way to use this site, and it works. Read every page, print the checklists, and reach any game you decide to try by typing its name into a search engine or going to an official storefront. The course was written to survive that test: it should still be worth your hour with every affiliate link stripped out of it, and if it is not, the failure is ours.
